Second example on man page has:

while((inlen = BIO_read(bio, inbuf, 512) > 0)
               BIO_write(bio_out, inbuf, inlen);

should be:

while((inlen = BIO_read(bio, inbuf, 512)) > 0)
               BIO_write(bio_out, inbuf, inlen);
